Port Alpha Shipyard

planned

Maritime defense technology company Saronic will build a new $3 billion shipyard named Port Alpha in Brownsville, Texas. The project aims to boost U.S. shipbuilding for defense and commercial ships, with construction starting later in 2026 and operations beginning in 2028. Initially, about 835 acres will be developed at the Port of Brownsville, with potential expansion to nearly 4,400 acres. The shipyard will be capable of building large military and commercial vessels, including both crewed and autonomous models, using advanced software-driven manufacturing methods to increase output and reduce costs. The project is expected to create up to 10,000 direct jobs and generate significant regional economic impact.
