Sector: Water Supply and Storage • Location: British Columbia, Canada
Source: Infrastructure Canada
The proposed project will improve wastewater treatment by constructing a new aerated wastewater treatment lagoon system to replace the Village’s existing wastewater lagoon. The wastewater treatment system is out of compliance with both provincial and federal requirements. This project will bring the system into compliance with the Municipal Wastewater Regulation and the Wastewater Systems Effluent

Description
Description | The proposed project will improve wastewater treatment by constructing a new aerated wastewater treatment lagoon system to replace the Village’s existing wastewater lagoon. The wastewater treatment system is out of compliance with both provincial and federal requirements. This project will bring the system into compliance with the Municipal Wastewater Regulation and the Wastewater Systems Effluent Regulations. The project works will include: - A multi-cell lagoon system that increases overall retention time, provides separate cells for aeration, settling and for polishing, and that limits short-circuiting. - A floating aeration system capable of providing dissolved oxygen content appropriate for the design flow. - A rock filter consisting of a separate cell partition filled with rounded stone. - A floating cover over the settling cell to prevent light penetration that is conducive to algae growth. - A lagoon system was selected to both minimize operational effort and power consumption and to maximize life span. |
