The proposed project is intended to increase port capacity, to improve organization and productivity, and to provide training and technical experts for the management of the ports. The project would consist of: (i) the construction of four new deepwater berths and associated facilities at Bandar Shanpur including land reclamation and dredging; (ii) the provision of floating craft, heavy-lift equipment, and light cargo-handling equipment; (iii) consultancy services for (a) the completion of detailed designs, hydrographic studies, the design of floating craft and supervision of construction; (b) the Iran Ports Study; and (c) training schemes and technical assistance in management for PSO headquarters and in the ports.
