The company is developing phase 1 of a multi-purpose terminal to handle containerized and loose-bulk cargo in Haiti (the “Terminal”). The terminal, with a total estimated land area of twelve hectares (ha), will be located 19 kilometers from the Port-au-Prince airport and eight nautical miles north of international port of Port-au-Prince. Development works related to the “Project” primarily consist of: (i) construction of a 450-meter quay for offloading and loading; (ii) deepening the terminal’s draft alongside to 12-meters; (iii) installation and acquisition of the necessary cargo handling equipment; and, (iv) development of container yard and supporting backup areas. The terminal would provide much needed container handling capacity and help reduce transport bottlenecks and costs. Port construction and design is currently underway; completion is scheduled for end-2014.The Project is one component of “Lafito Global” which consists of an Integrated Economic Zone being developed by the GB Group (the “Group”) in privately held land in the Lafiteau area.
