Description | This 24 MW diesel-fired plant will generate power for Port Moresby, one of the main urban centers in Papua New Guinea. Hanjung and Daewoo secured the project in 1997 for US$52.5 million from the electricity board of Papua New Guinea. Both companies set up the joint venture Hanjung Power under a 51-49 ratio with a $15 million investment. The power generated by the plant will by sold to Papua New Guinea Electricity Commission (Elcom) under a 15-year BOT contract. At the termination of the contract, ownership of the facility will be transferred to Elcom. |
