Description	The project involves the redevelopment and modernisation, building and operating a new container terminal in Nouakchott port, Mauritania. This is the first-time PPP project in the country. The new terminal will have an initial handling capacity of 250,000 TEUs with a potential extension for a maximum capacity of 600,000 TEUs. Sponsors are Meridiam and Olam International. Mauritania’s Comité Interministériel des Développement des PPP awarded the project to the ARISE-Mauritanie JV on 5 October 2018 under a 30-year concession agreement. The project cost is USD 310 million. Africa Finance Corporation provided $160 million limited recourse debt financing. The remaining part is covered by equity contributions by the sponsors.
