The project involves the design, development, operation, maintenance, and transfer of a container terminal at the Port of Richards Bay in South Africa. Situated on the east coast of the KwaZulu-Natal province, the Port of Richards Bay enjoys strategic proximity to major transport routes, facilitating access to regional rail and road networks. Comprising three distinct precincts—the Bayvue Precinct, Newark Precinct, and South Dunes Precinct—the port has evolved into South Africa's leading bulk port, specializing in export coal, dry bulk, break bulk, and liquid bulk. In addition to handling containers, the port provides services such as bunkering, minor ship repair, and facilities for recreational craft. Currently, the Bayvue Precinct includes the Multi-Purpose Terminal (MPT) and Dry Bulk Terminal, both operated by Transnet Port Terminals, managing various cargo types, including dry bulk, break bulk, containers, and the export and import of various commodities.
