Description

This project involves phase 1 of the construction of a new container terminal at the Port of Suape, located in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil. This new container terminal will occupy an area of approximately 50 hectares and will be the first 100 per cent electrified terminal in Latin America. The planned capacity of the new container terminal is 400,000 TEUs per year. The sponsor for this initiative is the Danish shipping and logistics company Maersk through its Dutch subsidiary APM Terminal. APM Terminal will be responsible for the development and O&M of the new terminal. The phase 1 project cost is $318m (R$ 1.6bn), while the total project cost is expected to reach $516m (R$2.6bn).
