Description | The project involves the privatization and operation of Porto Alegre International Airport in Rio Grande do Sul. Fraport Brasil Porto Alegre is the project company, owned by Fraport AG, undertaking the project. Fraport AG won concession in March 2017 during a public auction of four airports under Brazil’s third round of airport privatizations. The criterion for selecting the winning bidder was the highest investment over the concession contract. Fraport Brasil Porto Alegre will invest some BRL 600 million ($181 million) in the airport. Fraport will operate the airport for a period of 25 years. Fraport will pay a fixed fee amounting to five-percent of the airport’s annual revenue.
