Description | In 1999, the Brazilian company Sinart was awarded in a competitive bidding process the contract to build, rehabilitate and operate the airport located at the city of Porto Seguro (state of Bahia). Information on other companies participating in the bidding process and on the bidding criteria set by the regulatory agency was not available. The 13-year contract was signed with the regulatory agency and the sponsors took over the operations in March 2000. Between 2000 and 2007, a total of US$ 1.5 million (BRL 3 million) was invested in the airport facilities. In 2010, the sponsor invested an additional US$ 5.7 million (BRL 10 million) in expanding the airport passenger terminal. The airport handling capacity was set at 1.8 million passengers per year. |
