Description

Description

The Belgian presidency workshop aims to fire up a discussion between the Member States on the role of the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) within the broader disaster risk management system. With the frequency and intensity of crises on the rise, understanding the interconnections between different mechanisms, tools and stakeholders becomes vital for effective disaster response and resilience. This workshop seeks to provide much-needed clarity on the role and function of various key mechanisms and tools, shedding light on the rapidly evolving disaster risk management landscape. By examining synergies, overlaps and differences between the UCPM and various other mechanisms, such as the Health Emergencies Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA) and the Integrated Crisis Response (ICPR), the project aims to identify complementarities and facilitate collaboration among these mechanisms. It furthermore focuses on participation of citizens in disaster risk management.
