General aim of POSITIVE COACH is to increase level of health enhancing physical activity by using in an innovative and educative way Shotokan Karate-Do. The project will build a network of sport clubs with motivation to transform the sport for children and youth ON A CLUB LEVEL so that sport transforms children and youth. By implementing project activities and reaching its general aim the project will ensure that: -COACHES in the clubs have a DOUBLE GOAL – to prepare the athletes for the WIN in sport AND to teach LESSONS OF LIFE -CHILDREN ATHLETES understand the beauty of Karate and strive to make themselves, their teammates, and the game BETTER -PARENTS of children athletes concentrate on personal development of their child and trust the coaches to train the children for winning in sport POSITIVE COACH, related to karate and its values, covers the priority of the Call for Education in and through sport. An innovative program for karate trainings will be developed based on neurophysiological categorization of children. It will contain 4 steps tool for communicating with children and parents. It will be delivered to coaches on 2 transnational meetings. Techniques for self-awareness and behavioural strategies will be adapted to sport settings and introduced to coaches and practiced. Before that, partners will: a / adapt standardized questionnaires to identify kids’ temperament b/ question parents to examine how they estimate children status, how do they live together, what kind of issues do they discuss, how often etc c/ question coaches–similar to parents Academic staff and play therapists will support above activities. The innovative program will be tested for 7 months and validated in 3 clubs. During a final camp kids will show achievements through the program and be inspired by role models and famous karate athletes. Outputs - 1 innovative program with toolkit, 20 trained karate coaches, 130 children 7-11 years old motivated for HEPA, 1 sport camp for 45 children.
