Poslovni Sistem Mercator, d.d. (Mercator or the company), which is based in Slovenia, is one of the leading retail companies in South-Eastern Europe. The company sells a wide range of consumer products including food, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), clothing, furniture and household appliances. Mercator operates approximately 1,200 retail units (including franchise stores) in different formats of stores (hypermarkets, supermarkets, convenience stores, specialized stores etc.) in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina. The project comprises Mercator’s proposed investment program outside Slovenia which involves the establishment of new hypermarket stores, supermarkets and other formats (depending on market potential) in Serbia and Montenegro, Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina (the New Countries) over the period 2006-2009.
