The project involves the development, construction, operation and maintenance of a 296 MW Potrero solar plant in state of Jalisco, Mexico. The sponsor is Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV), which is fully-owned by the Saudi Arabian conglomerate Abdul Latif Jameel Company. The SPV is called FRV Potrero Solar S. de R.L. de C.V. The total project investment is expected to reach $ 250 million. Debt in the amount of $ 65 million has been provided by Bancomext and International Finance Corporation (IFC). Bancomext is providing $ 34.7 million and IFC is providing $ 17.3 million as senior loan and another $13 million from its Co-Lending Portfolio Program. Financial close was reached on 8 March 2019. Upon completion in 2020, the plant will sell the produced electricity on a merchant basis and will be connected to the national grid through a 400kV high voltage transmission line which passes directly through the site.
