Potter Valley Hydroelectric Project Decommissioning

Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) has filed plans with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to decommission the Potter Valley Hydroelectric Project, which includes Scott Dam and Cape Horn Dam. The project involves removing these dams, which would eliminate Lake Pillsbury and cut off a century-old water supply to over 600,000 northern California residents and hundreds of family farms. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has intervened in the FERC proceedings to represent the interests of local farmers, ranchers, agricultural producers, communities, and other stakeholders, urging rejection of PG&E's application unless significant deficiencies are addressed.
