Description

Description

The PARCS 2.0 project (Pour des Activités Récréatives dans un Cadre Sûr - For Recreational Activities in a Safe Environment 2.0) has been designed to address violence against children in sport. It aims at promoting the embedding of child safeguarding policies among organisations working with children, in the sport sector. Indeed, an overall approach to child safeguarding is rooted in understanding the risks children can face in these organisations and addressing those risks with measures that create child-centered and child-safe organisations. Our approach is child-right and participation based. It is meant to enhance child protection by increasing the participation of boys, girls and non-binary children engaging in sports activities in the design of prevention activities underpinning all child protection efforts. It recognises and addresses the specific protection needs of all children, with a particular focus on groups that are found to be more vulnerable to violence in sport settings. The project will enable the targeted organisations to be aware of the specific protection needed for children, to formalise and adopt appropriate child safeguarding policies in line with the international standards, that will be used as baseline. It will create a pool of trainers able to support a participatory process to implement child protection policies in different kinds of settings and make the tools needed to support this process easily available on online interactive pages and printed materials. Moreover, the project will reinforce and complement existing integrated child protection systems to improve the prevention of violence and care of child victims. To reach that aim, it will critically challenge existing mechanisms and ways of working and promote the coordination and alignment of all stakeholders to improve child protection in sport. It will also benefit from the existing national and international expertise, through an advisory board.
