Poverty-oriented local development and decentralization III

The aim of the Poverty-Oriented Municipal Development and Decentralization in Madagascar (PDCID III) project is to improve the population's access to municipal infrastructure and services. To this end, selected municipalities in the two regions of Boeny and Diana are to be supported in the planning and implementation of municipal infrastructure through the national municipal development fund (Fonds de Développement Local - FDL). The municipal investment measures promote the participation of municipalities in the decentralization process and strengthen capacities in the area of local governance. Strengthening local economic cycles and the use of labor-intensive construction measures also help to cushion the economic consequences of the COVID19 pandemic and reduce poverty in the region. Part of the funding will be used to support the project sponsor FDL in its planned expansion of capacities in the south of the country.
