Description
Description | The FC project supports Namibia in improving the housing and living conditions of low-income households in urban regions and is integrated into Vision 2030, in which Namibia sets one of its goals to provide its population with access to adequate housing, water supply and sanitation facilities by 2030. The project is being implemented through three components. The focus is on the development of settlement areas and their basic infrastructure, as well as the acquisition of land rights and the associated legal security for the population. In addition, selected settlement areas are to be equipped with additional basic infrastructure (e.g. raised water tanks, expansion of sewage systems/sewage treatment plants, connection to the electricity grid, establishment of electricity distribution networks, etc.). The third component involves raising awareness among the population, particularly in informal settlements, about hygienic behavior through the construction of demonstration toilets (sanitation centers) and hygiene campaigns, following the UNICEF Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) approach. |
