Description | In May 2006, the government of Bangladesh divested 25% of the state owned Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) through an initial public offering (IPO). PGCB was incorporated in 1996 as a subsidiary of state-owned Bangladesh Power Development Board, and was engaged in the transmission of electricity in parts of Bangladesh. PGCB was listed on the Dhaka Stock Exchange in May 2006. The total value of the offering was US$13.2 million (Tk 911 million), corresponding to a face value of US$14.50 (TK 1000) per share. As of December 2008, PGCB was owned by the government (76.25%) and private investors (23.75%) via the stock market. |
