Description
Description | The Seyhan River Multipurpose Project for Turkey will provide a loan that will be used to acquire equipment, supplies and services for constructing a dam on the Seyhan River, installing two 18,000 KW electrical generators, and building a power transmission system. The dam and its related installations would supply power, assist in controlling floods and store water for irrigation. These works are the major part of the Seyhan Project, which also includes construction of levees to control floods on three rivers and expansion of the existing irrigation system. The purpose of the Seyhan Project is to prevent flood damage on the Adana Plain; to increase agricultural production (part of which can be exported) by providing for irrigation; and to assist in expanding industries and public facilities by raising power production. |
