Description | The Second Power Project will improve the efficiency and reliability of power supply through the rehabilitation and upgrading of power facilities. The project is of high priority and consistent with the least-cost means of meeting the growing demand on the power system. Specifically, the project comprises the refurbishment of generating units and auxiliaries at the Kariba South Bank Hydropower Station, rehabilitation and extension of the distribution and transmission networks. It also includes provision of equipment for workshops, vehicles, training, power operations support, management information systems and computer facilities. Lastly, the project entails engineering services, and studies of transmission network development and power system behavior and load frequency control. |
