Description
Description | The project aims to carry out activities that are functional in informing, inspiring and motivating secondary school pupils for further study in the regions. Representatives from the business community will inspire young people and teachers with tailored elements that create curiosity and raise thoughts about what to do in the future. The companies have the “stoff” as the science center can help translate for a young audience. Researchers, students from university and university of applied sciences will also, based on their own life choices, inspire young people to further study. An exhibition will tour in both regions. Visitors should be able to talk about life choices, studies and work. A powerful communication framework/migration exhibition will be an incentive to gather people for conversations that can develop into a local network. The local network needs inspiration and support from other actors in the same industry (teachers to teachers and companies to companies) who show benefits from networking. From business and working life to teachers and students: concrete examples, inspiration from reality. From teachers and students to business and working life: understanding of young people as well as future workers. The idea is to get to know the local business community to make contact. The networks can ensure the continuity of the activities that are created during the project period. The role of Science Centres in these contexts is partly dependent on other actors in order to inspire young people. The university, companies, employment services are essential for the project’s activities to be carried out. All activities are connected, partly interdependent and reinforce each other. This applies mainly to networking, which is one of the main objectives of the project. The local networks are part of the regional networks as they can be part of the interregional networks. Here is the project’s challenges — attracting participants for networking at different levels. School materials that students should be able to use at school should present the business community in their own region but also in the neighbouring country and can become an important piece of the puzzle in the students’ understanding combined with visits to the exhibition. The project includes the following activities: — Hiking exhibition/communication tool for primary school students as the first target group. — An event at the science center where students (gymnasiet/VGS) can meet researchers, college students, trainees from companies as well as other inspirations and role models in a youth forum. — Teacher training for teachers in international knowledge, regional development, future workforce, skills supply and digital competences. — School supplies for the classroom that visualise the business community in the regions of Fyrbodal and Östfold. In order for businesses to survive, they need labour. Network meetings for survival, to reach the target group young people, exchange experiences, evaluate the activities of the project and discuss possible new solutions. — Exhibitions at science centers are being developed with elements from companies and working life in the regions of Fyrbodal and Östfold: “Stories”, film spots, small exhibition stations or virtual company visits with VR glasses. News reports on traditional media and social media about the activities of the project that put the topic on the agenda, societal challenges, future skills supply, youth motivation and the importance of networking to contribute to solutions. The project has a steering group and a management team. Each country has a project manager and in Innovatums is also the main project leader. After the project, the goal is to develop new networks between school and business. The network can support activities that are not funded by the existing activities, such as the transport of students and the exhibition. Youth forums at science centers have become an appreciated activity, contacts with participants are established and can be arranged more easily every year. Participants participate and cover their own costs. |
