Continuing its systematic development of Holocaust educational practices and advocating for preservation of neglected killing sites, Documenta – Centre for dealing with the past gathered partner organizations that share our mission of countering distortion of historical facts. The consortium designed this project as an answer to the dangerous raise of Holocaust denial, distortion and trivialization which undermine European values. The project „Power of Personal Stories in Confronting Oblivion” focuses on combating Holocaust and other genocides denial, countering distortion, and trivialization of historical facts, by sharing accurate information, organizing public debates on the best practices of confronting distortion and creating new materials and methods based on personal stories and biographies of time-witnesses, victims, and survivors. The project will also analyze and highlight resistance and/or organized opposition. The project includes the following activities: interdisciplinary roundtable on Holocaust distortion; educational activities for youth; training for teachers, youth workers and educators; various study visits; advocacy activities for policymakers, stakeholders and the general public; digitalization of personal stories of victims and survivors; dissemination seminar for educators; conference and local multilpier events in Croatia, Germany, Italy, Romania, Slovenia, and Spain. Through its activities and results, the project nourishes a common understanding of Europe’s history and values among citizens from various European countries.
