Description | The purpose of the PPTA is to support the Government?s strategy of increasing electricity supply to its urban and rural population. It will do this by preparing a power transmission enhancement project to ensure the transmission system delivers a sufficient and stable power supply. The project will improve system stability and reliability, and reduce losses through (i) the construction of 500 kV and 220 kV transmission lines, (ii) the construction of 500 kV and 220 kV substations, (iii) an extension of 500 kV and 220 kV substations, and (iv) preparation of a master plan on a nationwide transmission system. A similar intervention for the distribution system has been included in the 2007 ADB lending program. |
