The Second Electricity Supply Commission Project for South Africa will establish, maintain, and run the undertakings for the efficient supply of electricity to everyone in the country. Over the last few years, there has been a large increase in the demands for electricity. These demands have made it difficult for the Electricity Supply Commission to supply enough electricity for the country. The project will expand the power facilities necessary for increased electrical output. The components are: 1) construction of eight new power stations; 2)expansion of six existing stations; and 3)construction of 900 miles of high tension transmission lines with necessary substations. With these improvements, South Africa will be able to meet new demands for electrical power and maintain economic development.
