Description | The Aberdeen Laksapana Hydroelectric Project in Ceylon objective is to assist in the expansion of the hydroelectric generating capacity, transmission and distribution system. The project is limited to the construction of a storage dam on the Kehelgamu River and the addition of 25,000 kw of generating capacity in the existing power station. An extensive transmission and distribution system is included to serve new and existing markets. Enterprises and their associated industries such as tea factories, rubber plantations, coconut oil, desiccating and fiber mills will be able to increase their output, improve the efficiency of production by the use of additional power. The project will provide additional power for transportation and other workshops and small industries, all of which add to the improvement of the national economy. |
