Description | The proposed project forms part of an interim expansion program during the years 1968 through 1970 which will provide TANESCO with additional facilities to help meet the demand for power until the next major generating station can be commissioned. The project provides some 21 megawatts of diesel generating plant in Dar es Salaam and Mwanza, minor extensions to generating plant in isolated areas, and related extensions to transmission lines and distribution networks. There is no alternative method of meeting the load growth more economically until a major hydroelectric installation can be commissioned. |
