Description | The Power Project in Mauritius will provide contributions to the power expansion program of the Central Electricity Board (CEB). The Fort Victoria diesel power station will have an initial installed capacity of 12 MW and the plant site will permit eventual expansion of the station up to 40 MW. The expansion of transmission and distribution facilities will include about 12 miles of 66 KV transmission lines, the addition of substations, the extension of distribution facilities to housing projects and the reconstruction and extension of low voltage networks. The increasing power load and limited water available during the dry season during a severe drought, afford a need for additional power which will be provided by the Fort Victoria station. The project will meet the growing demand for electric power on the island, as well as rehabilitate and expand CEB's transmission and distribution system. |
