The project consists of the first stage of a new thermal station at Port Dickson with a capacity of 120 MW, the second stage of the thermal station at Johore Bahru with a capacity of 60 MW, the installation of additional generating units in the Woh and Odak Hydroelectric Power Stations aggregating 51.4 MW, and the provision of transmission facilities. The total cost of the project, including interest during construction, is US$51.1 million. The proposed bank loan of US$37 million covers the foreign exchange cost. Purchase of all major items of imported equipment and the awarding of major construction contracts will be on the basis of international competitive bidding. The local currency costs of the project, together with other capital expenditures under NEB's program will be met from NEB's own resources and additional equity contributions by the Government.
