Description | The project will be part of EAC's 1967-1971 expansion program, which envisages the installation of additional capacity to meet increased demand and the extension of its transmission and distribution system so that it will virtually embrace the entire island by 1971. Under the project a third generating unit with auxiliary equipment, identical to that now in operation, will be installed at the Moni Power station. The further program, not part of the Bank-financed project, includes the extension of the transmission system by a double-circuit 66-KV overhead line from Moni to Limassol, a distance of 16 miles, and the installation of two 66-KV substations with auxiliary equipment. The distribution system will be enlarged by 509 miles of 11-KV underground cables and overhead lines, by some 500 miles of low voltage mains and by 460 transformers with a total capacity of 60,000 KVA. |
