Description
Description | Orient Green Power, a subsidiary of Shriram Group from Chennai, India, was planning the development of the 10.5 MW wind farm in Puttalam, Sri Lanka. Orient Green Power owned 90% of the company Powergen Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, responsible for executing the project. In July 2012, Orient Green Power divested its 90% share in the company to Windforce Private Limited, from Colombo Sri Lanka. The project was located in Uppudaluwa, Kalpitiya. Output was expected to be 26.28 GWh annually. The project held a PPA with Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), for a period of 20 years at a price of `10 per KWH (US$0.08). Typical here is that RE is not subsidized, and the project is selling at market price. The wind farm was reported as operational in July 2012, but no further reference to commissioning years, or financial closure dates were available. Assumed here is January 2012. The project consisted of 7 x 1.5 Mw LTW 77-1.5 Leitner Shriram Wind Turbines. An agreement with the Board of Investment (BOI) was signed in August 2010. Construction was expected to start in September 2010. Commissioning was initially expected for June 2011. Total cost was estimated at 80 crore, around US$14 million. The equity transfer in 2012 happend at a cost of US$8 million. http://cdm.unfccc.int/Projects/Validation/DB/934LY1JVHWY6OMU01FNJGDTLI5YE2G/view.html http://www.windpower.lk/project3.php SeeNews Renewables, Orient Grien Power sheds 90% in Sri Lankan PowerGen, 25 July 2012 |
