Description | PowerSecure, a Southern Company subsidiary, will deliver a battery energy storage and solar generation project in Moorcroft, Wyoming to improve peak demand management. The project pairs a 5-MW/21.6-MWh battery energy storage system with a 1.25-MWdc ground-mount solar array. It is developed in partnership with Powder River Energy Corporation and the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative to address grid-level peak demand challenges and reduce annual wholesale power costs by up to USD 1 million. The project is expected to be completed in about two years, with operations starting in 2027. |
