Poyrazgolu Wind Power Project entailed the development and construction of a 30 MW onshore wind power plant in Sinop, Turkey. It comprised 15 Enercon turbines, each with 2MW capacity. The power plant was capable of powering 32,000 homes by producing 77 million kWh of electricity annually. The wind farm would reduce 77,000 ton carbon dioxide emission per year. Poyrazgolu Wind Power Plant was developed by a joint venture of three local companies – Ortadogu Enerji, Demirer Holding and Yesil Enerji. The total cost of the wind farm was estimated at USD 61 million. The project reached financial closure in November 2014 with USD 47 million as debt and the balance USD 14 million as equity from the three sponsors. Construction began in 2012 and commercial operations was targeted for end of 2014. Turkey’s national transmission company is required to provide grid connections to all renewable power projects.
