Description | PPL Electric Utilities is undertaking a project to improve power delivery in the Hazleton area. The first phase includes connecting existing transmission lines to a proposed Tomhicken Switchyard in Hazle Township, involving two 230 kV lines over 1.1 miles and a substation to be built by NorthPoint Development for a data center campus called Project Hazelnut. The second phase involves constructing a new 11.2-mile powerline through several townships to meet increasing power demands, initially at 230 kV and later upgraded to 500 kV. |
