Description
Description | The freight routes along the Middle Rhine are among the busiest rail routes in Europe. Goods trains run on this axis between the major transhipment ports of Rotterdam and Genoa. Moreover, there are also numerous important industrial locations along the route. To identify congestion-relieving measures, the Federal Ministiry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) initiated the Middle Rhine Study. This Study was published in 2015. The following measures were identified as core measures for the new construction and expansion of the Middle Rhine corridor: (a) Rhine/Main-Rhine/Neckar, (b) (Mannheim)-Molzau-Karlsruhe and (c) Cologne/Hagen-Siegen-Gießen-Hanau (Sieg route/Ruhr-Sieg route). However, the project includes the planning for the development of an alternative route to relieve the Middle Rhine corridor. The project relates to planning measures on the section c) Cologne/Hagen-Siegen-Gießen-Hanau Ruhr-Sieg route) as follows: WP 1 Internal and external project management WP 2 Subsoil investigations WP 3 Public participation WP 4 PS1 (= planning section 1) BIM preliminary planning WP 5 PS2 BIM preliminary planning WP 6 PS3 BIM preliminary planning WP 7 PS4 BIM preliminary planning WP 8 Construction supervision and construction planning / securing services WP 9 Subsoil assessment/ geotechnical /tunnelling advice The project is planned and implemented using Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodology. The aim is to achieve greater planning and implementation security (timely process, cost transparency, fewer supplements). |
