Description

Description

We propose an in-depth Holocaust educational program for young Europeans in Austria, Poland and Germany. Through a wide-reaching range of activities, we consolidate participants’ knowledge, skills, and sense of commitment to act as ambassadors of Holocaust remembrance toward their respective networks. The project aims to: 1. Increase knowledge about the Holocaust among young people • Raise awareness about local sites where the Holocaust happened and the local dimension of mass atrocities • Consolidate participants’ knowledge base of key historical events within broader European and national historical context 2. Scale reach of Holocaust remembrance efforts • Empower young people to be ambassadors of Holocaust remembrance in their communities • Mainstream the use of social media campaigns to promote remembrance • Present replicable Holocaust education formats 3. Develop active citizenship skill among young people, drawing on the lessons of the Holocaust • Build young peoples’ resistance to Holocaust denial and distortion. • Raise awareness about the causes of the Holocaust and about escalatory steps ahead of other mass atrocities to build societal resilience 4. Champion women’s experiences during the Holocaust, following decades-long under-representation. • Raise awareness about women’s role in resistance movements during the Holocaust. • Raise awareness about the use of gender-based violence in mass atrocities. The following activities will be carried out: - Preparatory seminars to develop key historical knowledge about the Holocaust. - Virtual thematic conferences with leading experts. - In-depth study visits and short study visits to sites where the Holocaust happened. - Online training on memorialization and meetings with survivors - Individual social media projects and a large-scale joint campaign By preserving the memory as a meaningful task for young Europeans, we bring innovation to the field of remembrance and consolidate EU values.
