Preparing Green Transport Projects

The proposed TA seeks to enhance the sector's climate resilience and disaster preparedness, and to support the preparation of transport projects in Kazakhstan as follows. (i)To assess the climate resilience and disaster preparedness of Kazakhstan's transport networks, prioritize these factors, and incorporate the findings into investment programming as a selection criterion for sector loans or results-based loan;(ii)To develop a methodology to estimate lifecycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in road construction, operation and maintenance (O&M), including a comparison between cement concrete and asphalt pavements;(iii)To identify smart, climate-resilient and low carbon measures for the road subsector, including e-mobility; (iv)To enhance the Ministry of Transport (MOT)'s institutional capacity for climate resilience and disaster preparedness.(v)To identify and prepare potential transport projects with enhanced climate resilience.
