Preparing the Guangxi Zero-Waste City Development Program

The ensuing Guangxi Zero-Waste City Development Program will support both public and private sectors in advancing the zero-waste city development and promoting low-carbon circular economy in a holistic approach, covering a wide range of wastes from domestic, industrial, agricultural, and construction industries. The results-based lending (RBL) program will be aligned with the impact of carbon peaking before 2030 and carbon neutrality before 2060 achieved in Guangxi. The indicative program outcome is implementation of zero-waste city in Guangxi accelerated. The program will have three outputs: (i) institutional capacity, knowledge management, and public awareness on zero-waste city strengthened; (ii) reducereuserecycle (3R) in urban-rural solid waste management improved; and (iii) low-carbon circular economy industrial parks developed. The indicative loan amount is $150 million from the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) ordinary capital resources.
