The expected impact of the proposed TA is to create, together with other interventions, an enabling environment for optimization of supply and demand of the energy through energy development and trade within South Asia (or SAARC countries). It will promote better dialogue, higher cooperation and identify mutually beneficial investment options. It will also support strengthening the capacity of the SAARC Energy Center (SEC) and thereby energy sector professionals in the region. The TA will comprise three main components: (i) undertaking the SAARC Regional Energy Trade Study (SRETS); (ii) capacity building of SEC; and (iii) technical and logistical support by ADB.The overall expected outcome of the TA is the identification of the appropriate energy development and trading opportunities to meet growing energy demand in SAARC countries.
