With the “Preserving Humanity” project we want to encourage each reader to focus on themselves before judging and denying the different just because it is unfamiliar. We are certain that high-quality literature is a great companion in getting to know and accepting oneself and the world. Providing literary quality, “Preserving Humanity” gives an additional dimension to the relevance and uniqueness of European heritage, as the works were created in the span of a centenary – from 1923 to 2024. No matter when written, these books meet the interests and needs of the contemporary culture. Alongside with promoting high-quality European literature written in lesser-used languages the dissemination program will be tailored to involve society by encouraging inclusion and participation, and focusing on people with disabilities, minorities and socially marginalized groups. High-quality literature improves knowledge about free democratic society and deepens the understanding of the measures to be taken to make it more sensitive, empathetic, better. Worthy literary works delve into human self-awareness and psychological aspects revealed by protagonists, demonstrate author's attention to the behavioural patterns of society, and the spiritual quests of the characters. Dealing with pressing societal issues, these books will also impress with their artistic expression and richness of language. “Preserving Humanity” is an innovative project in the Latvian book industry. Apart from traditional formats we’ll use various dissemination channels. With the digital tools we plan to reach the audience of 985500 (incl.news etc portals, social media, online school management system, urban advertising, online book club, podcasts). Analogue activities will involve participation in local and international book fairs and events organising our own events – readers’ club, meeting the authors, book fair, festival (at least 150,000+), cooperation with print media (50,000+) and radio (300,000+).
