"This project involves the modernization and expansion of the Presidente Dutra Highway, also known as the Sao Paulo – Rio de Janeiro highway, providing the road connection between the states of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The total length of this highway is 625.8km. The sponsor for this initiative, the Brazilian Road Concessions Company – CCR (Concessionária do Sistema Rio–São Paulo SA), won a 30-year concession back in October 2021. This initiative will generate around 40 thousand jobs during implementation and more than 3 thousand jobs after completion. This initiative will focus in the rehabilitation, capacity expansion, and enhancement of the Presidente Dutra Highway (BR-116 RJ/SP), Brazil’s primary logistics corridor, spanning 355.5 km between São Paulo (SP) and Seropédica (RJ), as well as the Rio-Santos Highway (BR-101 RJ/SP), covering 270.3 km between Rio de Janeiro (RJ) and Ubatuba (SP). The total project cost is $2,700m (R$15bn) of which $1,940m (R$10.75bn) were secured by the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES). The financial structure of the operation approved by BNDES includes the largest issuance of incentivized debentures in the history of the Bank, in the amount of $1,699m (R$9.41bn), which includes $90m (R$500m) in green debentures, associated with a direct credit of $242m (R$1.34bn).
