Description

The Sport GVP project puts forward a comprehensive program that entails multifaceted actions to prevent and tackle gender-based violence in and through sport. It will thoroughly examine the issue and develop learning tools and training opportunities to educate and empower sport professionals and stakeholders to actively address it. Moreover, Sport GVP will take concrete action to raise awareness and put forward a call to action against gender-based violence in and through sports. Namely, the project aims to: -Study, analyse and document the extent and forms gender-based violence exists in sports and put forward recommendations to address it -Elevate sports professionals’ and stakeholder’s knowledge and understanding of the issue, empowering them to identify and address incidents and expressions of GBV -Build up the capacity and support sports professionals and stakeholders to engage, educate and inform athletes on issues of gender and gender-based violence -Support and guide officers and executives of sports organizations and federations to introduce and implement prevention and protection mechanisms and approaches against gender-based violence -Raise awareness on Gender-Based Violence in Sport and society, its adverse effects on athletes as well as the need to tackle the phenomenon and offer a safe environment to athletes. To that end, the project will produce the following: -A report on ‘Gender Based Violence and Sport - Realities, Challenges and Responses -A Training Package - Preventing and tackling Gender-Based Violence in and Through Sport -An Interactive eLearning Platform Through the work and actions of the project, it is expected that: -550 sports professionals and stakeholders will be involved in its research - 1100 sports professionals and stakeholders will be trained and/or access its learning resources - Engage more than 100,000 individuals and professionals via its events and awareness-raising activities
