In MAWADIPOL, a series of actions aimed at increasing effective coordination at regional level is intended to be carried out in the MAC cooperation area through the following aspects: — Alignment with international regulations in the fields of marine environmental protection, maritime and coastal rescue. — Increasing regional response capacities to natural and accidental marine pollution risks affecting the space of cooperation through the use of ICTs and innovative technologies. — Strengthening the capacity to plan and implement ground handling to large passenger ships. — The increase of risk prevention on beaches through a strategy of communication to the local population and tourists. The need for effective coordination and the integration of resources is the basis of the MAWADIPOL proposal, which is consistent with the dictates of supranational bodies.
