Description

Description

This project has 3 main objectives, which are to: 1. Develop a European trade union agenda to adapt to the challenges brought by the dual transitions – climate change and digitalisation – on occupational safety and health. 2. Contribute to national strategies to prevent the OSH risks associated to these transitions. 3. Contribute to the European policy framework on trade with proposals to protect the occupational safety and health of workers. The first phase of the project is analytical: experts will conduct a research on the risk to the safety and health of workers arising from the digital transition and from climate change and the green transition to mitigate its effets. Another research will be focused on the third objective of the action and will deepen into the current EU trade policy and the possibilities to enhance an OSH agenda in commercial agreements of EU with third countries and in multilateral fora. This part, entrusted to external expertise will result in short comprehensive country reports highlighting the key issues in relation to the two first mentioned dimensions and another European report covering the objective of the trade agenda and OSH. A second phase of the action will aim at presenting, discussing and distributing the outcomes of the research with the members of the ETUC Standing Committee on Occupational Safety and Health. With this objective, three thematic seminars will be organised in different EU member states, where concrete policy recommendations at European and national level to tackle the challenges identified in the analytical phase will be put forward. Two dissemination conferences will take place, and an ETUC advisor will be in charge of translating the work and outcomes of this project into EU policy recommendations (relayed via the Workers’ Interest Group at the Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health), as well as providing a trade into the national OSH plans (via the ETUC members).
