Prieska Power Reserve Green Hydrogen and Ammonia Project

Mahlako A Phahla Investments and Central Energy Corporation (CENEC) have secured funding approval from Germany's KfW Development Bank and the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) for the Prieska Power Reserve project. Located in the Northern Cape, South Africa, the project spans 1,900 hectares in the Siyathemba Local Municipality's industrial zone, harnessing local wind and solar resources. It aims to produce 80,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually by 2027, scaling up to 500,000 tonnes by 2030. The project emphasizes inclusive economic growth, women's and youth empowerment, skill development, and will generate over 400 direct jobs upon operation.
