Description

Description

PRIME's objective is to elevate Media and Information Literacy across European children (6-12 years), focusing on primary education to foster critical thinking and digital resilience among young learners. Recognizing gaps in current initiatives, which often fail to incorporate MIL systematically into formal education, PRIME proposes an innovative solution that will allow schools to solve this need without waiting for slower institutional change. It aims to develop a transversal, adaptable MIL framework that integrates modern pedagogical approaches and addresses the challenges of the digital age, including misinformation. The consortium represents a cross-sectoral collaboration uniting media literacy experts, fact-checker journalists, teachers and instructional designers from various European countries. This diverse partnership ensures a rich exchange of best practices and innovative solutions, reflecting PRIME's commitment to collaborative problem-solving and knowledge sharing across cultural, linguistic, and regional borders. PRIME intends to achieve its goals through the development and implementation of an innovative MIL framework and toolkit for autonomous school adoption and comprehensive training for teachers. The project emphasizes the development of materials tailored to the unique needs of the primary age group, ensuring the curriculum remains relevant and impactful in an evolving digital landscape. Aligned with the objectives of this call and the European Union's broader goals, PRIME addresses the need to promote multilingual and multicultural media literacy materials, facilitate knowledge sharing and exchange, and enhance citizens' digital capacities. By focusing on activities that scale up best practices from existing media literacy projects, developing interactive toolkits for the online environment, and organizing events to raise awareness, PRIME directly contributes to building a more media-literate, resilient society.
