Description

Description

AO Primorskiy Krai Electrosvyaz is the local telecommunications service provider for the Primorskiy Region in the Russian Far east. It provides local telephone service through its own network. The company also offers national and international service through Rostelecom's infrastructure. The company was partially privatized in 1993, after the formation of Svyazinvest, the national holding company. Svyazinform held 38% of the common shares and 51% of the voting shares by 1998. A 22% stake in the company was sold to Russian Owned Novaya telefonniya Kompaniya for US$20 million. The offer had to be paid in investment in the company over first three years. The company failed to fulfill this obligation and sold its shares to Singapore-based Gold-Tron. Gold-Tron fulfilled such obligation in 1997, and gained full rights to its shares. AO Proimorsky Krai Electrosvyaz owned 314,000 access lines and operated 267,000 access lines (85%) in 1996. Became a branch of Dalsvyaz in November 2002
