Description
Description | Xplore proposes a multi technology solution in order to develop a broadband network that will exceed the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission’s universal service objective by 2021. This includes the deployment of additional towers and fibre to serve an estimated 20,500 dwellings across the province. The breakdown includes 3,000 dwellings which would receive connectivity through fibre directly to the home (FTTH) technology, while the remaining 17,500 homes would be served via Xplore’s broadband fixed wireless service. Xplore’s reference backbone design would deploy 610 kilometers of fibre in total, include the construction of eight new fixed wireless towers and upgrades to Xplore’s existing 21 towers in the Province to support higher end service and provide expanded capacity. All of Xplore’s fixed wireless sites would be connected to the open access fibre backbone and be available to other providers as well at wholesale rates. Xplore’s reference design would offer a combination of fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) and fixed wireless services to serve approximately 20,000 island dwellings, at download speeds of at least 100 Mbps and upload speeds of at least 10 Mbps, with unlimited data. All residential homes and businesses will be offered a range of service connectivity packages at various price points, depending on specific customers’ needs. |
