Description

The proposed project will upgrade the Kin Centre’s arena chillers and condensers and add a heat recovery system to the ammonia refrigeration plant. The project will increase the energy efficiency of buildings by increasing the HVAC system efficiency, recovering and using waste heat, and providing fuel-switching from natural gas to cleaner grid electricity. The facility is a northern BC hub for sports and entertainment and serves as a an emergency shelter. The project works include: - heat recovery system with heat pump(s); - replacement of evaporative condenser with adiabatic condenser; - replacement of shell-and-tube chiller with two (2) plate-and-frame U-turn chillers; - connecting pipes, fittings, valves, regular and variable-frequency drive (VFD) pumps, and heating coils; - replacement upgraded HVAC control system; - removal of replaced equipment; - and site work, mechanical, electrical, control/monitoring, signage, and other related works and appurtenances.
