Description | The Privatization and Private Sector Development Project will support implementation of Tanzania's private sector development strategy through its public enterprise (PE) privatization program, banking restructuring, and infrastructure and utilities' regulation. The project has four components: 1) The component will finance the technical assistance and advisory services for preparation and execution of PE divestiture transactions. 2) This component will support a) completion of Loans and Advances Realisation Trust's (LART) program of debt collection for state-owned banks; and b) LART conversion into a private debt collection company, and LART tribunal's transformation into a commercial court, as part of a market-based approach to strengthening the debt collection market for banks. 3) The project will finance the design and implementation of institutional framework for infrastructure and utilities regulation. 4) This component will assist to create an independent forum in which the government and private sector representatives can have a dialog to identify the major binding constraints to private competitiveness and expanded private investment, employment, and output and export competitiveness. |
